The Console Visa card has passed initial testing and is rolling out to wider access. It's the first card on Canton that lets you spend Canton Coin directly in the real world.
For most people, the distance between owning crypto and actually spending it has always been the sticking point. You hold an asset, you watch it move, but the moment you want to buy something with it you run into exchanges, transfers, fees, and waiting. The card is our answer to that: spending, without the detour.
Console Wallet is self-custodial, which means the keys stay on your own device rather than on our servers. You keep control, and the card simply draws on the balance you already own. The wallet runs on the Canton Network and also supports Ethereum and Base, and it comes as a browser extension and a mobile app. The Visa card sits on top of the wallet and connects your balance to everyday spending, wherever cards are accepted.
How It Works
You issue a virtual card instantly, right inside the wallet, with no separate account and no extra app to download. A short identity check is the only step between opening the wallet and holding a card you can use. You add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay, and then you pay with Canton Coin or any other asset you’re holding. In a shop it is a single tap, like any other contactless payment, and the funding happens from your wallet in the background.
During testing, our founder made the first live payment himself: a coffee bought with Canton Coin. It sounds small, and that is the point. A routine purchase, settled straight from a crypto balance, with a normal receipt at the end, is the moment a digital asset stops being an abstraction and starts being money. The transaction details and the receipt are in the video below.
This first round of testing was about proving the basics hold up under real conditions: that a card issues cleanly, that it links to a phone, and that a payment clears at a real terminal without anything breaking. With that confirmed, we’re opening access to a much wider group now, so anyone holding Canton Coin can put the card to work, and the feedback from everyday use is what will shape what comes next.
