Agile Iterations

Published:

Agile iterations are short, repeatable cycles where a team plans, builds, reviews, and improves a slice of a product. The idea comes from Agile methods that emphasize incremental delivery and responding to change. In Scrum, this cycle is commonly represented by time-boxed sprints with built-in review and reflection. Iterations make progress visible and create regular points where priorities can be updated based on what was learned.

Each iteration works best when it ends with something that can be evaluated, even if it’s small. That evaluation can come from users, stakeholders, or operational metrics. Over time, iterations reduce risk by forcing problems to surface early. They also help teams avoid long stretches of work based on assumptions that may be wrong.
