We are pleased to announce that the winner of our Fall-Winter 2023 round of essay competition is Bobby Wilson, a master’s Data Science student at the University of California, Riverside.
Bobby Wilson has won a $2,000 scholarship for his essay “Step into the Virtual Classroom,” in which he takes a deep dive into the metaverse and analyzes how it will affect online education in the nearest future.
In his work, Bobby outlined the challenges that remote learning faces today, including lack of social interaction and intellectual gaps. He looked at the problems through the eyes of teachers, students, and recruiters and showed how to solve those issues and improve processes using the metaverse.
Bobby explained why he chose this particular topic for this essay:
“I chose to talk about metaverses because I’ve lived this problem teaching during the COVID era. There are many new technologies that we’ve implemented over the last two decades in the classroom. Some of them are useful, others are almost completely superfluous. Metaverses are transformative. I believe they will be the single biggest contribution to education going forward as the world grows ever more remote.”
We heartily congratulate Bobby Wilson and wish him the best of luck in his future studies!
Meanwhile, the Spring-Summer 2023 round of our essay contest has officially begun. Share your thoughts on the application of innovative technology in a certain area, send us your essay before June 5, 11:59 PM PST, and get a chance to become the next winner!
