Data Mining

Published:

Data mining is the process of exploring large datasets to find useful patterns that are not obvious at first glance. It looks for repeated behaviors and meaningful groupings in the data. For example, it can reveal that certain customers tend to buy the same items together or that users follow a common path before canceling a subscription.

The value of data mining comes from turning raw data into insight that can guide decisions. It can help teams understand what is actually happening in a product, a market, or an operation, then decide what to change or investigate further. For the results to be reliable, the underlying data has to be reasonably clean and representative. Good data mining combines discovery with validation so insights lead to action, not false conclusions.
